Ok, I need to stop skipping karate classes. Thursday I was sick, Saturday I'd made other plans. This Tuesday I should be clear to attend class, but still, that's over a week of skipped classes.

I won't be able to hit the gym either these next few weeks due to work. Sigh.

Bruises bruises everywhere. Especially my left leg and right forearm. Mostly from sparring on Saturday, but some just never truly go away, especially the ones on my left leg. I'm left handed, so most of my kicks do come off my left leg. It's fairly even, but the harder kicks, and slightly more often, come from the left. Walking around for Canada Day tomorrow might get some odd looks if I wear shorts.

Speaking of Canada Day, there will be no karate class tonight due to pre-Canada Day festivities. Oh well.

I did the gym again this morning. Just cycling today. My legs are sore since I haven't been to a cycling class in over a week. But I feel good about getting through class!

So I attempted to go to the gym today to work on my cardio and conditioning. Unfortunately when I got there both classes I usually attend were cancelled. One of the things I am not good with is planning and executing my own work outs. I find I work a lot harder in a class environment.

So instead of sticking around the gym, I walked all over town for 2 hours. I guess that's something.

Tomorrow I will be doing the cycling class, but no karate since it's cancelled due to Canada Day festivities.

This is my first entry in this blog. Right now I don't have too much to say. Save that I'm sore all over. My one Sensei, I'll call him Sensei A, and I sparred a fair bit on Saturday. For our first round we sparred until we gassed out. And by we, I mean me. We took a short break, and then regrouped to spar again. He said he would go 90% defense, and would only hit me if I left a big hole open. I still got hit a few times, but as he says, "the body remembers."

Afterwards, he gave me a few compliments on my sparring, which really made me feel pretty positive, despite how exhausted I felt. Sensei A does not give out too many compliments, so when he does, you know they are real.

After sparring my other instructor, Sensei T, asked me to teach some white belts the first kata. This I took as a huge compliment, because you do not get asked to teach kata unless you KNOW the kata and do it well.

Tomorrow morning I am getting up early again to hit the local gym. I've been doing cycling classes to get my endurance/cardio up so I don't gas out as fast. I've also been doing conditioning classes to get my strength up. I've got a year to go, I want to be in great shape!
